New banknote: Kazakhstan 10000 Tenge 2011, 20 Years of Independence UNC

We are happy to offer you a new Kazakhstan 10,000 Tenge commemorative banknote. This beautiful blue-violet hybrid banknote was issued on 4 July 2011 with a circulation of 30,000,000.

This Kazakhstan banknote commemorates the 20th anniversary of independence of the Republic of Kazakhstan and is mainly blue-violet in color. 

On the obverse, the images are vertical, depicting the Republic of Kazakhstan's state symbols (emblem and flag), flying pigeons, and the Kazak Eli monument. 

On the reverse of the 10000 Tenge 2011 banknote, images are horizontal and show the shape of the map of Kazakhstan, the logo of Independence Day, and the residence of the Kazakhstan's President. Face value and name of issuing authority appear on both sides.

Kazakhstan 50 Tenge 2011 Aktobe UNC

Start your collection of the Cities of Kazakhstan series with this Kazakhstan 50 Tenge uncirculated coin. First issued 18 June 2011, with 50,000 minted, this coin commemorates the city of Aktobe (Aktyubinsk), the capital of Aktobe province.

The obverse shows the face value (50 Tenge) in the center, an octagonal outlet at the top, and a national ornament at the bottom.

The reverse of the Kazakhstan 50 Tenge Aktobe commemorative coin shows, in the center, the Aktobe coat of arms, and around the circumference the year of issue.

The Kazakhstan 50 Tenge Aktobe commemorative coin is 23 mm in diameter and weighs 4.71 grams. Its lateral face is grooved.

Kazakhstan 1000 Tenge 2011, OIC, UNC

Please take a look at this particularly attractive banknote! The Kazakhstan 1000 Tenge commemorative banknote was issued 25 May 2011, with a circulation of 10,000,000.

The Kazakhstan 1000 Tenge banknote, 134mm x 70mm, is mainly light green in color. The theme is Republic of Kazakhstan's chairmanship in the Organization of the Islamic Conference.

On the obverse, the images are vertical, and show the logo of the Organization of the Islamic Conference, the state symbols of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and the dome of the mausoleum of Hodja Akhmed Yassavi (1093-1166: Muslim religious teacher and founder of Sufism). 

On the reverse of the 1000 Tenge 2011 banknote, images are horizontal, and show the Yassavi mausoleum, plus the face value at the bottom left, the middle, and the right.

New animal coin from Kazakhstan: Phrynocephalus Mystaceus

Just over a week ago, the Kazakhstan Mint issued a new silver coin to complement its Fauna of Kazakhstan series. The oval coin depicts one of the more fascinating animals of Central Eurasia: Phrynocephalus Mystaceus is a lizard species known for its characteristic pink folds at the corners of its mouth. The folds, which resemble large ears, become visible when the lizard is agitated. 
Phrynocephalus Mystaceus is one of world's larger lizards, reaching 24 cm in length. It belongs to the Agamidae family and is commonly found in Kazakhstan, some parts of Eastern Caucasus, Iran and Afghanistan.

Platalea Leucorodia Coin Now Available in Silver

Previously available only in nickel (Neusilber), the coin depicting the Eurasian Spoonbill is now available in Sterling Silver.

This silver proof coin, minted in 2007, is part of a coin series entitled "The Red Book of Kazakhstan". This series commemorates rare and endangered species and currently encompasses 11 different coins. Most of the coins in the series can be purchased via our online store:
The Eurasian Spoonbill (Platalea leucorodia), a bird named for its distinctively-shaped black-and-yellow bill, can be found throughout Southern Eurasia during the warmer months of the year.

New Silver Coin, Customs and National Games of Kazakhstan

A new silver coin was recently added to the series commemorating Kazakhstan's ceremonies and traditional games. The reverse of this coin, Otau Koteru, depicts a man on horseback in the act of helping set up a yurt. The topmost part of the yurt, symbolizing the hearth and prosperity, is prominently featured on the coin.

New Commemorative Coin in Space Series

Kazakhstan's National Bank recently issued a new coin in the series commemorating space travel. The coin, Lunokhod-1, features the first lunar rover launched by the Soviet Union in 1970. Like other coins in the series, this commemorative coin is made from sterling silver and tantalum, a metal used in the aerospace industry.
